Alumi Numbirch (アルミ・ニウムバーチ Arumi Niumubāchi), nicknamed Anna the Itako III, is a fictional character in the Shaman King Flowers manga and anime series. She is the daughter of Silva,[2] and the sole surviving member of the Patch Tribe,[3] as well as the fiancée of Asakura Hana,[2]

Appearance[]

Alumi has tanned skin and long messy light blond hair with a single braid in front of her left ear. She wears a black dress, white boots, and white wrist warmers all with fringe at the bottom and has tied a patterned red bandana around her head. As a part of the Patch Tribe, most of Alumi's clothes exhibit traces of Patch craftsmanship.

While attending school, she wears the school uniform, although she removes her bandana and pulls her hair back with a clip on the right side, while the left side is braided. She also has an eagle feather attached to her left wrist beneath the shirt.

Personality[]

Alumi is very proud of her ancestry and has proclaimed herself to be the strongest Itako of her generation, showing an arrogant personality. Like her previous generation, she is rather rude, insensitive, inconsiderate, mocking and incredibly brutal. She will even go as far to say cruel, and very unnecessary things to others, and does not seem to care whether or not she is out of line. However, she is kind-hearted and compassionate, such as protecting Morimura from Rapt and expressing worry over his safety, as well as appreciation for his kindness.

She appears self-conscious about her body as she gave Hana a kick after he complained about how ridiculous the idea is that he is going to marry a "flat chest" and after knocking him out when he said it again, noted that she would "slaughter" him if he called her a "flat chest" again.

Abilities and Powers[]

As a member of the Patch Tribe, Alumi is well-versed in the traditional Patch Crafts. She was also trained as an itako by Anna Y. Kyouyama and Asakura Anna and is gifted with considerable furyoku.[4] Asakura Anna also trained her to combat the oni created by Hana's Setsubun Mode,[5] as well as gifted her the shikigami pair, Zenki and Goki,[6] and the 1080 prayer beads.[7]

Like other shamans, Alumi is able to use Soul Integration in order to channel other spirits through her body. Amongst others, she regularly uses the spirit of a soldier named Hans Meyer, that is possessing Kanna Bismarch's motorcycle, in order to ride it safely.[8]

Alumi with the Silver Arms

Alumi inherited her father's five Guardian Ghosts, the Silver Arms: the coyote "Silver Tail", the bald eagle "Silver Wing", the coral snake "Silver Rod", the tortoise "Silver Shell", and the bison "Silver Horn". They were originally five animal spirits that have trained and refined themselves for over five hundred years eventually becoming nature spirits. Unlike her father, she wields Silver Shield on her chest and Silver Horn on her left arm, while Silver Tail is used on both her feet and uses Silver Wing on her head.[2] She can also turn Silver Horn into a Shotgun able to fire a special Bean called "Goldva" that can absorb and purify evil.[9]

When Hana returned from his Hell-training, he briefly returned to the surface and became Alumi's Guardian Ghost for her fight with Oume Kaizou.[10]

  • Amida-Ryū: Shinkū Budda Giri (阿弥陀流 真空仏陀ブッダ切り , literally meaning "Amida-Style: Vacuum Buddha Slash"): After years of working with Amidamaru, Hana is able to replicate the samurai's signature technique. While integrated with Hana, Alumi swings her sword, sending a powerful slash-like shockwave at her opponent.[10]

Hana and Alumi in destroyed Patch Village

Alumi and Hana face Yohsuke and the Rapt in the destroyed village.

She was born in the Patch Tribe during the Shaman Fight to Silva of the Ten Patch Priests responsible for overseeing the tournament.[4] When she was a child, Kamogawa Yohsuke, YVS, and Rapts attack and destroy the Patch Village, massacring everyone. They intentionally left Alumi as the sole survivor so that she could learn fear and despair and pass on a warning about those who would oppose Team YVS. Alumi watched in horror as Asakura Hana, who happened to be there at the time and was defending Alumi, was toyed with by Yohsuke and his YVS Cards.[3] Eventually, Hana succeeded in killing Yohsuke, at which point Dong Dehon and Shahon arrived to retrieve Yohsuke's body and erase Hana's memories.[11]

She was taken in by Anna Y. Kyouyama and lived in Los Angeles where she was trained as an itako.[4][12] She was later trained by Asakura Anna herself who also approved of Alumi as Hana's fiancée.[13]

Alumi defeats Byg-Salem

Alumi destroys O.S. "Byg-Salem".

At the age of 13, Alumi pulls Asakura Hana to safety from Asakura Yohane and Luca's attack, leaving their combined Over Soul stuck in the garden. After being threatened by Luca, Alumi goads them into attacking her and flies around them to prove her skills. Alumi blocks an attack with Silver Shield and follows up with Silver Horn, destroying Yohane and Luca's Over Soul. She then introduces herself as Hana's fiancée.[2] Afterwards, the Hana-Gumi Waitresses scare away Yohane and Luca.

After Hana wakes up in the hospital and believes it was all a dream, Alumi appears behind him and strikes him in the stomach for calling her a "flat chest". She mocks the abilities of Umemiya Ryunosuke and Amidamaru before leaving.[14]

A few days later she transfers to Shinra Private School in the same class as Hana and Yohane. After introducing herself, she spots Hana and Yohane and calls them out, addressing Hana as "Fiancé-Kun" and Yohane as "Eyepatch-Kun" to the shock of the class and annoyance of Hana.[15] She later follows the boys to the mall after they skip class and finds Hana feeding Yohane. After an argument with Hana, she punches him with her Over Soul and leaves, telling them not to lower their guard.[13]

While at the mall, Luca and Ichihara Ryuji attack Hana and force him to summon out his collection of oni. Once the Yami-Oni appears, Alumi returns and shoots the oni with a specially-made "Goldva" bean, neutralizing the oni and saving Hana and Yohane.[9] She explains to Yohane how and why Shaman King Hao placed the oni inside of Hana, but she ignores Ryuji's demand for more explanations. They then notice that the shrine spirit is melting, but Kamogawa Yohsuke steals away with it and erases the others' memories of its appearance and his involvement. Although they cannot remember, Alumi and Yohane sense that it did not simply disappear.

After Hana's wound are dressed, they all go and sit along the river embankment, and Alumi complains about Hana's depressed state.[5]
