The Archangels (大天使 Daitenshi, 4Kids: "Arch-Spirits") are the strongest of all the angels.[1] Pieces of them were used to create the Guardian Ghosts of the X-Laws. As a type of tsukumogami, these mechanical angels were created from various vehicles that had gained spirits,[2] as such they are also known as the Mobile Angels (機動天使 Kidō Tenshi).[3]

About[]

The Archangels possess the ability to shatter other spirits with their attacks.[4]

The X-Laws' Archangels were created by having a priest call upon the spirits of the real angels and then through a hard process, fusing them with the spirits of the cars, thus giving birth to mechanical nature spirits (機械精霊 kikai seirei).[5] In truth, it was Luchist Lasso who once ventured into the Big Heaven (the second highest commune within the Great Spirit), took pieces of the real Archangels, and brought them to this world to create the artificial angels.[3] While not real angels, their reiryoku are almost at Kami Class.[5]

Archangels as cars

The Archangels in their car forms

The true forms of these Archangels are their car forms.[2] Using the Over Souls, the Archangels' car forms can be driven by their shamans.[6] If the shamans' minds focus more on the devices than their religious pieties as angels when summoning the spirits, the colorations of the mechanical archangels may alter.[7]

X-Laws Pendulum

Lyserg's Radiesthesist's Pendulum

Description: When all of the X-Laws (except Marco Lasso and Iron Maiden Jeanne) were dead, Lyserg was their only hope. Thus, Jeanne gave him full control of all the Archangels, which he fused together with his own fairy spirit, forming a gigantic, angelic Morphine, wearing Archangel-type armor. Amongst others, it has its arms from Remiel, its shoulder amour from Uriel, its arms from Gabriel, the skirt armor of Sariel, the Halo from Michael, the helmet from Sariel, and Michael and Metatron's wings. In this form, Morphine is stronger than ever and can extend her arms very far to grab an opponent.

Anime/Manga Difference[]

Luchist comments in the 2001 anime series, that all they have is their size and they are basically just high level Over Souls.[8]

Trivia[]

  • "Mobile Angels" is an homage to the Japanese series Mobile Suit Gundam (機動戦士ガンダム Kidō Senshi Gundam).
